Hi! My name is Joy and I guess you can say I am a little food-obsessed. From the minute I wake up to when I go to bed I am constantly thinking about food. The endless combinations that you can make and the satisfaction you feel when you’ve created that magical result, are some of the reasons why cooking has become my passion.
I always say food is love, there is no better way to spread joy and happiness. Many people underestimate the power of a home cooked meal but I have always learned to appreciate it. Food has the power to bring people together, to conjure up an emotion within you, and most importantly, there is no better way to soothe the soul.
I am a self-taught cook, or should I say a mother-taught cook and in my opinion there is nothing better. My mother not only taught me how to work with different ingredients, but she taught me how to put love into what I make. She taught me to respect the ingredients and appreciate their beauty as well as the perfect combination of flavorings to bring out their true essence. Being a Chinese-American, I have had the pleasure of discovering the wide variety of flavors in Asian cuisine and in return has given me my adventurous spirit in food.
I currently live in Dallas, TX with my loving fiance and our trouble-making dog, Layla. I started Joylicious in hopes of educating readers with my knowledge in cooking as well as share wonderful recipes that I’ve tried and had great results. At 24 years old, I am still pretty unsure as to where my career is going but I think this is definitely a good start. This will be a place where I will be combining my true loves in life: Food, Photography, and Writing.
I hope you enjoy your time here and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. You can reach me at: joyzhang516@gmail.com.
